Bed bugs from travelling: what to do first

Unpack outside, tumble-dry clothes on high heat for 30 minutes and inspect luggage seams. Early action is faster and cheaper.

Bed bugs are hitchhikers — they don't fly or jump, they ride in on luggage, coats and secondhand furniture. If you suspect exposure after a hotel stay, don't bring the suitcase into the bedroom.

Unpack on a hard floor (kitchen or bathroom), tumble-dry clothes on the hottest setting for at least 30 minutes, and check luggage seams and zips with a torch.

If you spot live bugs, cast skins or blood spots, call us the same day. A single-room treatment done in week one is a fraction of the cost of a whole-house treatment in month two.
